Katrina Hodge is proposing to scrap the swimsuit round in the Miss World competition. Her appeal is getting quite a bit of media attention since she’s representing a high profile nation. She herself is known in the UK as “Combat Barbie,” being a soldier who joined the army when she was 16 and having served in Iraq.
Katrina proposes to replace the Swimsuit round with a “sports challenge”. “I think it’s nerve-racking enough for girls to get up on a stage and speak, let alone appear in a swimsuit,” she said.
Hmmm...I wonder if a sports challendge would be any less stressful than trying to convey a sport! Not every contestant would be as athletic as the Combat Barbie!
