Dairy Queen Miracle Treat Day, August 5, 2010

I love children and when I see companies paying their fortunes forward, I like to let people know about it. Well here is another example of a company that is paying it forward. Since 1984, Dairy Queen has raised over $81 million for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. August 5, 2010 is designated as Dairy Queen's Miracle Treat Day.

I still don't get it?? Why refuse this commercial?

A few months back, ABC and FOX refused to play a beautiful and tasteful Lane Bryant Commercial. The lingerie is quite lovely and the modeling of the lingerie was very tasteful. So why deny it?? Here is the commercial...



Here is what Lane Bryant had to say:

“We knew the ads were sexy, but they are not salacious. Our new commercials represent the sensuality of the curvy woman who has more to show the world than the typical waif-like lingerie model. What we didn’t know was that the networks, which regularly run Victoria’s Secret and Playtex advertising on the very shows from which we’re restricted, would object to a different view of beauty. If Victoria’s Secret and Playtex can run ads at any time during the 9pm to 10pm hour, why is Lane Bryant restricted only to the final 10 minutes?

While it’s no secret that Victoria’s Secret “The Nakeds” ads are prancing around on major networks leaving little to the imagination, steaming up t.v. screens and baring nearly everything but their souls, our sultry siren who shows sophisticated sass is somehow deemed inappropriate. The network exclaimed, she has “too much cleavage” Gasp!

Does that make sense to you? It doesn’t to us either.

Does this smack of a double standard? Yep. It does to us, too.”

Target Does It Again With It's Lingerie Line!

I have really admired what Target has done to bring major designers and it's consumers together with quality items without the "quality" price tag. Well, Target has even achieved this through its home designer lingerie name, Gilligan & O'Malley. This designer name has been around for a few years, but this years collection has appeared to stand out from the rest! The bras, panties, tap pants, camisoles, pajama pants, robes, and gowns are available in floral prints that have a soft watercolor effect to them, echoing one of this season’s hottest clothing trends!

New Exhibit displaying vintage Underclothing at the Albany Regional Museum!

A Peek at Women's Underwear

There is a current presentation displaying vintage lingerie at the Albany Regional Museum in Albany, OR. The exhibit features the history of women's underclothing, with a display of some delicates from their collection. They want you to discover Albany's Secret. I haven't found out when the exhibit is over, but the website shows it as current at this point. The admission to the museum is free, so check out the website at http://www.armuseum.com/index.htm

Fight "Chub Rub" for good with Thigh Society!

I love to wear skirts, especially in the summer, but with the heat and humidity, my inner thighs rub together and the resulting rash is UNBEARABLE. I’ve tried it all:

Bicycle shorts don’t solve the problem. High spandex waists bunch up and need to be folded over, the material is too thick, and without a gusset, panties need to be worn underneath.
