Retail Lingerie Stores Dirty Little Secret Finally Exposed

I heard some disgusting news on a morning show recently. I knew a lot of stores did it, but knowing and seeing it done are two different things. I always tell everyone to be sure to laundry everything you purchase, no matter what. And here is why.

An investigation conducted by The Today Show revealed some very dirty facts about lingerie retailers and department stores. As part of an ongoing series “Secret Filth Exposed,” they revealed through a hidden camera that many retailers will accept returned and used underwear and bathing suits and sell them again as if they were new and never used.

A disturbing account was revealed by a woman who has worked at three different Victoria’s Secret stores. She told The Today Show that employees will accept returned underwear and put it back on the sales floor, even though it may have been used. She goes on to tell that if a product comes back as returned and it has an odor to it, they will put the garment on a hanger, hang it up overnight so the clothing ha time to release the odor and then they’ll put it back on the sales floor the next day.

The stores involved in the investigation were Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Victoria’s Secret, Saks Fifth Avenue, Gap, Express and J.Crew. The Today Show bought lingerie and bikinis at each store, ripped off the tags and the protective lining, marked the inside tag with two black dots, waited a week and then went to each store to return the items. Britney Spears for Candie’s Spring/Summer 2010

Britney's is climbing back on top...fast! Britney Spears is the new supermodel representing the spring/summer 2010 Candie’s campaign, a junior brand exclusively available at Kohl’s. The young mother of two is holding up a fuchsia teddy bear and is flaunting her body in a floral bra, matching frilly hipsters and peep-toe heels.

There was a lot of speculation regarding the amount of Photoshop that would have to be applied to the images. Following a 97-date world tour, Brit’s body is incredible, so it doesn’t seem like much editing will have to be done! Congratulations Britney on getting your groove back! I hope one day I can have a Britney Spears type gracing Naughty and Nice Lingerie campaigns!

Madonna to Design Lingerie?

The latest rumor is that Madonna, queen of the famous cone-shaped bra, may be designing a lingerie line. The news has sprouted from New York Fashion Week, where everyone was saying that Madonna will be designing a clothing line exclusively for Macy’s, which may include lingerie styles. Women’s Wear Daily reports that the name of the lingerie collection will be Truth or Dare, although reps from Madonna, Macy’s, and Iconix brand management have all declined to comment.

What do you think about the concept of Madonna designing a lingerie line. I love Madonna, and she did well for H&M, but I wonder about a lingerie line, especially since Madonna has always been so unconventional and risque....oh wait, that makes for a FABULOUS lingerie line...doesn't it? :)

The Girl Next Door Modeling Bravissimo...literally!

Hats off to Bravissimo for doing something not many companies do: investing in their customers. You’ll be seeing some fresh faces in the new Bravissimo campaign – faces of Bravissimo customers themselves modeling the voluptuous wares! Bravissimo called upon their customers to find the newest group of ladies to grace their ad campaigns. After 600 applicants and 40 castings, they narrowed the list down to the top 5: Jess Edwards, Leela Tikador, Katie Hardy, Riann Quinn and Patricia Arteaga. There is a great reason behind this years pillow fight. This year, pillows will be collected and donated to a midtown no-kill animal shelter to make bedding for rescued dogs and cats. I have a soft palce in my heart for shelter (or any) animals and this is a great cause. Then after the fight, let's all get together and have more, less abusive fun!
